Calm before the storm!!!

After what feels like alot of personal illness I am finally getting my head back on track in preparation to work! Seems like a simple and tedious explanation, but in actual fact it takes alot to get to paint, and ensure my head i s in the 'right' place before I can begin!!
This also includes being physically fit, allowing my mind to feel happy and at ease with myself, as confidence always seems key to self belief! So getting myself back in the gym since my little stress issues seems both appropriate and needed!
So with this current state of 'calm', I am in full prep mode to begin the said 'storm'.
As all matters more than ever before I apply again for a new master program, which can change everything!! So here's to making the most of my 'gift'!!!! Be back soon with some new updates!!!

Gallery, Online viewing, Studio

The original site @ http://www.kunsthaus.org.uk will now be re invented, as three fairly basic aspects will be brought to the site!! Instead of it being a link site only, it is now time for the site to be re born as it's rightful meaning, an art house. http://thecarni.com will continue as a commercial site, linked to all in the culture network, hitting many levels, but the kunsthaus will showcase galleries of artists, inside the studio on willing artists, and online viewing!! Online viewing will be the next big step, one we have wanted to happen for over a year now.. To incorporate an active online show to the viewers!! The fundamentals of this may prove to seem stale and difficult at first, but we are going to try!!! Like a mix of art film and movement, we will see where this takes us. For more on this, and other updates other than the blog, check us @kunstHaus_ via twitter
Bye for now!!!!

A hundred small stories!!

" A hundred small stories, peters new adventures revisited.

Peter is a child of the past, the present, the future, the imagination, and the fictional adaptation of all mentioned.

The space between space, we see peter as he integrated into a new time, as he shares with others in these new spaces in a new life. He exists within this time, our time, as he shares with others in this new space, a new time. We are in wonderment to what he is doing, for those that turn in interest find something!!
Thoughts and memories are sometimes sporadic, a jungle/forest in the mind, but also of some order. We all remember things in sequence, one that changes each time we think of those same thoughts. One leads us to another and so on. As with peter and his adventures, they are not set in an order to the viewer, not until they are viewed. Each viewer with each separate mind has a new way in which peter lives and moves and strives to evolve. With some peter may be forgotten, and others possibly cherished, appreciated, remembered!!
To be chaotic is also to have order for some. Peter alike and his conquests of some chaos yet such strong structure it could never falter or be damaged. For peter is a strong and happy spirit, tired as he struggles on through adventures encountered, but loves the work he forces upon himself".

The return of the originals!!!

In 2005 I had my first main show, out in Bergen. Entitled Peter's Army, it showed a collection of paintings that began the whole series.
The idea of creating a new concept with old images as subject matter was such an interesting concept. Originally, all I imagined was to create new fictional stories surrounding the images, and placing these characters into new worlds!!
Realism was a central point in 2005, just the idea of these characters being 'different' was more than a change and adaptation for me. Now 6 years on, and the concept is there, but has evolved so very much, but remains central to Peter!! The drawings began also in 2005, and they at this same time have changed and continued to tell the story of Peter and his Army, but now I feel it time to revisit with this new series of works. The characters will be revisited, but in a new adventure, or continuation, and realism returns in many ways. The way in which we view them, relate to them, the realism will hopefully connect this way, as it did the first time round. I have been lucky to explore Peter, and his adventures in so many avenues, and he isn't going anywhere just yet.
As these images begin, so is another Peter, as the painting adaptations from the drawings have also begun. With difficulty in areas, yes, but am determind to get past this struggle.

Self help

The idea of this project is really in the title somewhat. 'Self Help' enables the consumer, viewer to be a little cheeky, and actually ask for a piece of work for free. You would think the concept doesn't really exist, but on many times you do get someone who asks for a free piece!! I guess the original idea came from this concept, as i remember giving talks in Norway for the show 'Peters Army', and after a 17 year old was so bold and was watching me do the first of my now on going drawings. She asked for a drawing of her!!! And for perhaps the only time ever I said yes, and drew her from life right then, in my style.
So it does happen! And I was taken aback by the cheek!! And quite impressed also.
So 'Self Help' really is what the title says, for a free portrait of an individual, and to be a part of the newest project.

The studio begins

After alot of thought. The studio is getting ready. After years of working where I could, it's time for my work to be in a real space, and that has to be my studio. Looking all over a local area for one has been difficult. And the closest was and hour away. So with the inclusion of family and commitments, I needed an alternative area. So my garage is the perfect space. It's big, cool, great for sound also. And it's more than separate enough to work in and feel my own time and space!!
So now it begins, the removing of everything! With an inclusion of White wall, grey floor and my trusty mac, who never leaves me. With new projects beginning, such as both 'self help' and 'life space' I need this more than ever before. For more on the two projects please feel free to get in touch @ maowusuwalker@gmail.com or wait for updates to the site @ either http://thecarni.com or michaelandrewwalker.com

The Work is about to change!!

For those who are familier with my work, you will know I work alot on drawings of late. My painting still exists, but have had a huge surge in drawings. But not as a simple hobby, or jotting down random images either.
The images are a development from the very initial works of Peter's Army, first established in 2005, and shown in Bergen Norway.
The theme has developed and grown, as the next stop saw me take some time to gain. Due to my own personal famiy commitments, I took a hiatus of sorts, but still envisaged my works along the way. Having enough, I broke out and began the work again. The first drawings believe it or not were done in 2005, whilst staging the first showing of Peter. In 2009, they continued and I showed a large series of up to 78 drawings, and about 20 books based upon the same imagery. Agin in Bergen Norway, in a differing location.
I have had a great response with the drawings, but on a personal level I wanted, and want more. I attempted to merge both drawing and painting in 2009, and to an extent it worked. But I wasn't happy with the result. I needed more, but didnt know what.
We then developed 'colour theory' basing the drawings through colour, and staged a show in the winter, the beginning of 2010 in Askoy, Norway, entitled 'We look up for guidance'. In a way it worked, as the setting was big enough and bold enough.
However, the drawings stayed strong, but to the point of just becoming 'drawings' and nothing more. In the later part of 2010 we directed a larger show for many artists, using the space to make the best show considering costs, and the environment. Constant is the only change was a good success, and I developed my first installation theme. We used the idea further, and thought of the images to combine with this also. Myself and Mr Frugaard began brainstorming, and we developed the next stage. I can pretty much give Marthin the credit, as Im sure it was his idea. And the next stage begins......And I will get back to this soon

Infatuation

The feel of a new infatuation, the sense of it, the way in which you naturally feel happy. It gives you a glow, and warmth.
The ideal of what you can do is so powerful. But any action has a re-action, a consequence.
Why can we feel like this? A new smell, new sense of thought enables us to be bothered, to take an interest. To look and feel our best becomes prominent also. We remember we are here for a reason other than simple daily duties. To know we can have fun and still remain happy.

Which brings me to my next point: Can infatuation co-exist with your daily life and 'ordinary' repressed thoughts?!
A tough one for sure, I think we try, but often get caught up in moral dilemma's. Most of us then over analyse and question our selves or lives. Causing an issue not needed and resulting in 'real' mess. The ideal becomes this 'real' thing. It confuses it with our 'ordinary' thoughts and happenings. We basically mess things up over an infatuation, or the inability to control it.
This can often happen to those who continue with the 'ordinary' lives, but want the infatuation to be real! It can lead to a real false sense of 'love' or want for such a term. We can act like giddy teens, and not know what to do or where to take this new 'relationship', and can ultimately lead to another moral dilemma of sorts.
What are your experiences relating to this issue? How do you see it?
Its interesting for sure, and pretty positive it affects a lot of us.

Rollin on till next time......

ELO

No, Im not thinking about the amazing rock band.
ELO (Electronic Literature Organization) is a website and a community for the benefit and preservation of a genre called electronic literature. Its called literature because electronic art that is displayed on the site and produced by some of its makers share many similarities with literature.
The works are coded, meaning their creators write the code that performs the piece you see on the screen. This means in other words, that you can write a film, or a piece of music, or more precisely a piece of electronic literature.

Web based art, and new forms of literature has many interesting possibilities but has been neglected and overseen. It is important that places like ELO exists to protect and breathe new energy into new and living artforms.

Please visit their site for more information about this interesting genre, and have a look at their online collections of internet based art (collection1) (collection2). There is a third collection on the way so bookmark and check back for more inspiration and fun.

Why its been worth all the hard work

At any time in any project there comes a time when you ask yourself: 'is it worth all the hard work and effort?'

Is it? The stress of feeling so busy all the time. To feel responsible on so many levels?
The answer for theCarni and Kunsthaus is that yes it is.
It has at times been a struggle. Sometimes you feel like you are banging your head into a wall. Am I the only one with dreams? To have a sense of urgency, to be aspiring towards a goal?
I want to aid those who want it, to help them by letting them be part of a growing group of artists.
Sometimes it feels like everybody is working for themselves, and you have to ask yourself if its worth it.
All I know is that we can not let down the charity next year, and it will go well. My work, I am sure will be fine also. As for the others, well, it just proves with a little push, some just can't be moved!!

Its hard letting go in some areas, cutting my losses so to speak. Trim the fat. Out with the old and in with the new!! It really isn't that bad surely, but to try and try, and only to talk to myself, feels repetitive, and time consuming.

This is how you feel often when doing this sort of work, and trying to get a group of very diverse and multicultural people to pull in one direction. Our weakness is exactly this, that we are so very different, including musicians, dancers, actors, writers, photographers, artists of all shapes and forms really and with time zones to compete with on top.

However, this is our strength also, with such a rich diversity and with a will to overcome our differences and speak the language all artists understand we can do more than one artist can alone, and we can put up a real show for any charity event and in any venue available to us.
We are learning together and our experience and creativity can overcome all the hard times that we are faced with when organizing ourselves in the future.

The Carni and Kunsthaus is going to change, we are going to become a smaller, more focused group and work closer together. We are at this moment building a group that will work together.

Soon, you the readers of this blog will get a taste of some of what and who we are. You will hear from our members sharing with you their thoughts and inspirations, their tastes and their views on culture and arts. This blog will include our thoughts and give you an insight in how artists work and think.
Most importantly it will be fun, so remember to bookmark us and read whats new in the world of the Carni.

Fast forward a year!

It has been a long year. Out for a while, as the kids took centre stage! Thats what its like. For those who have kids, you may know, or understand. For those who have kids, and actually look after them on a day to day basis, then you may really understand. Even now, breakfast time, and the only time to write, or feel like I want to write now!!
Well things have gotten back on track. It admittedly took a good while to get the new site up, after advertising and advertising. I was promised help by a designer, but he failed on all levels, let me down again and again. So it was time to get it done all over again. Hard at first, to know what you want, or think you know, and fail at each attempt. However, I finally got there, and am happy it moved on from the first site.
For those wondering about the name change, we needed to be specific, which I do think we now are. The Kunsthaus however, is still at the forefront, and stands out as the parent name. Thecarni.com branches out, and comes from its core, as a part of the 'art-house'.
Its funny, to think we have been a little quiet for all those months, but when all is considered, and you only have yourself as motivation, it will do that. It was hard to pull from the normal world, into one again filled with dreams and aspiration, but I did it.
Next year we are looking at the first charity event, using artists, as a basis for a great show. And bringing in an art auction to help raise funds. Perhaps we can find our niche, to help and aid charities and make awareness for ourselves in the process.
But no matter what, we need the help of everyone. I will be attempting to get profiled artists to put up their work, along with donations from up to a hundred pieces for the auction. I know it will work, as its too easy for it not to. So here is to next year as a group.
Oh, and did I mention I will be showing again next year also. Both at these events, and as an individual, my new project is hopeful, so time to look at funds!!

Time Capsule - Huset 13 - 23 okt 2011

While the prodjekt is taking shape,
we share some inspirational thought`s about what`s to come, enjoi.

Every 4.2 seconds a new baby is born in this world.
Beautiful feeling creatures starting their journey.
All of them in different corners of the planet, getting shaped and moulded by their surroundings.
Creating hope, fears and dreams.
Struggling to build something for them self.
To survive.
To be a part of a community.
Finding their ways and place between 7 billion others.
We can’t feel every faith,
we can’t shine light in every corner.
But we can feel for and care about the people we can reach.
We can be curious about the future and sceptical of the past.
We can be a part of the society we live in,
and build something beautiful together where we are.
So we can be an inspiration for future ventures, dreams and hopes.
We have to share and make people remember what is and what has been important.
Fore good and bad. In fact, we have a responsibility.
We can take away some of the fear, stress, create more magic and learn from each others
experience.
Every 1.8 seconds, somebody dies.
But what happens in between,
What are your hopes?
What are your fears?
What brings us closer as fellow humans today?
And what is your magic?
We want to take you with us in an experiment,
we want a piece of your mind,
so let’s say we borrow a memory of you for 20 years, bury it.
And when the time is right. We remember.
So we never forget what we did together this week. This will be a feast.
Now, time to get creative.
We want pictures, music, lyrics, paintings, songs and motion.
All done by you.
And while we walk trough the maze, close your eyes, open them again.
As a newborn, as somebody with experience as somebody with soul. As you.
And think about what it is that moved you, moves you and what might move you in the future.
Feel. Think. Breathe. Create. Be human.

Where is all the love at??

Well its in the works, and a film to be made very soon. Cast is partly ready, as we venture into the first sample film, before we hit a script and get further. News will arrive as we have it here
